The beautiful peninsula Peljesac lies with nearly its whole length parallel to the mainland. The peninsula is connected to the mainland near the place Ston at the southern end. In the west only a narrow channel separates the second largest peninsula of Croatia from the island Korcula. Fissured rock landscapes cover Peljesac, and the mountains – grown over with wild macchia – are forming a remarkably beautiful landscape. From the top of “Sveti Ilija”, the highest mountain, you can enjoy a unique view, and in the fertile valleys grow olives, citrus fruits, wine, pine trees and cypresses. The delicious wines of Peljesac are well-known, the red Dingac, the dry Postup and the white and red Kastelet. The inhabitants live beside the cultivation of wine in addition on fishing and on the shell breed.
On Peljesac live the last jackals of Europe. The nocturnal howling of the jackals will belong to your unforgettable vacation memories. But don’t panic, these animals are very timid and harmless. They will run away from human beings.
The peninsula Peljesac invites for a calm stay and for walking tours, collecting impressions of the unique landscape. From Trpanj in the north, the second biggest place of the peninsula, car ferries go regularly to Ploce, the opposite mainland port. From Orebic ferries pass over to the island Korcula.
Ston with its fortification worth seeing, the lively tourist places Trpanj and Orebic, unique culinary delights and the friendly inhabitants of the peninsula Peljesac let you feel this Dalmatian flair, which will make your vacation a special experience.
